Volunteer

wawa usando la computadora“Volunteering in Ecuador was definitely one of the most valuable, perspective-altering experiences of my life… I can’t imagine any sort of volunteer opportunity that would make me feel like I was accomplishing more or be more fulfilling.”

-Jackie Avitabile, Summer 2006 Volunteer

Volunteers help us send every child in every village where we work to secondary school prepared, confident and for free. As a volunteer, you will teach to a rigorous Math, English and computer skills curriculum designed to bring students up to grade level so that they are ready for secondary school.

The objectives and the work schedule are intense, but the rewards are great: every student who masters the material will receive a full scholarship to attend secondary school. You will live and eat meals with the other volunteers and program staff together as a family in the hostel built into the home of the program’s Ecuadorian director. On the weekends, the program will lead you on trips to explore Ecuador, or you may travel on your own.

All of the proceeds from the volunteer program are used to pay for our students’ scholarships, so all teachers not only help students through their work on the project, their program fees fund the students’ scholarships to attend secondary school.

The more dedicated volunteers that join our program, the more students we can send to school, and the more prepared they will be when they arrive.
