Volunteers’ Stories

Learn about our program from our volunteers! The links and quotes below come from past participants in our summer program. Some have kept blogs, others have written articles about their experiences, some gave advice for future volunteers, and some gave us written feedback that we asked to share with you here. Have fun reading their stories!

If you’d like to be put in touch with a former VEP volunteer and hear their stories yourself, please email us at volunteer@villageeducation.org!

Amber Wantman is a student at Swarthmore College, a 2009 summer volunteer, and the Director of Development for The Village Education Project. In Summer 2009, she not only worked as a volunteer, but did the research to get the ball rolling on building  our very own secondary school in the Ecuadorian highlands. Read her blog about her experiences here.

Elizabeth Weaver, a student at UNC Chapel Hill and a volunteer from our very first summer program in 2005, wrote an article about us here.

Anna Phillips, a 2008 summer volunteer and former Education Director for The Village Education Project, wrote information and advice for future volunteers.
