Curriculum
Volunteers teach according to an original curriculum designed for The Village Education Project. The curriculum was created by Ecuadorian primary and secondary school educators and a team of U.S. college students and their professors at Swarthmore College.
The English and Math curricula linked above is from Summer 2009. The curriculum changes frequently, so volunteers do not receive a final copy until they arrive in Ecuador. However, you can use the versions linked above to learn what subject matter you might want to brush up on, to learn the basics of a lesson plan, and to grasp the general structure of the summer courses. While the specifics of the curriculum may change, last year’s curriculum will be pretty close to what you will find when you arrive in Otavalo.
